Unicorn Gingerbread carousel (fail 🙈)

This past Christmas I became really obsessed with gingerbread. I remember attempting a gingerbread house years ago and it went oh so very wrong. So I decided 2020 was the year I was going to make a gingerbread comeback lol I started with mini gingerbread houses…

and from there I got really overconfident and thought “let’s attempt a gingerbread carousel” cause obviously I’m a gingerbread expert now ha. Yeah I sometimes do this thing where I don’t think my baking projects through. But hey it’s all part of the learning process, right? So follow along with my journey as I slowly lose my mind over this carousel.

First up….I need a design. I immediately decide unicorns need to be involved somehow because I am still a child at heart.

So I find a carousel and unicorn pictures online and use them as a stencil to cut out my gingerbread. again I haven’t completely thought this through so I’m still not sure how I’m going to decorate it but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

After a lot of debating and pondering I finally decide to do rainbow dip dye for the unicorns. Mostly because I don’t want to try and decorate them by hand lol

Now the fun part of trying to figure out how to put it all together. My best option at this point is hot sugar. So that’s what I attempt to do….

Yeah it’s not going that well. At this point I’ve been at it for about 5 hours. Those last 2 pics were taken at 2am. Because not only do I not always think my baking projects though but once I start them I have a hard time stopping. I literally had to peel myself away from this so I could get some rest.

So it’s the next day and I’m ready to tackle it again. I decide to decorate some of the pieces because decorating makes me happy.

And then I move onto the part I’ve been dreading . Putting it all together. it’s really not going well lol I thought using colorful boba straws would work to attach the unicorns to but they aren’t holding well. But I don’t have any other options so I have to just go with it and make it work.

After spending several more hours working on it I finally get it to sort of work. Not exactly. Pieces keep falling off and it’s completely crooked and lopsided but I’ve been at this for so long that I’m just over it now lol it is what it is at this point. So…ta da lol

At this point I had basically just lost my mind over this thing. I got Edward to help me out and make the carousel mobile. But…well…hey, I tried! Onto the next baking project….
